The Live Entertainment industry in Brazil

The Brazil California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) in partnership with the Consulate-General of Brazil in Los Angeles hosted an event to discuss opportunities and challenges in the Live Entertainment Industry in Brazil.

The BCCC had the Minister of Culture of Brazil, Sergio Sá Leitão, debating with key-players of the industry on how to bring both countries closer to increase partnerships in the sector. Brazil is the second largest cinema market in Latin America and the biggest in Games. The Country also hosts many Music Festivals with over 800.000 attendees like Rock in Rio, VillaMix, and Lollapalooza among others. Speakers included renowned executives from Shots Studios, WME, CAA, Opus Produçoes, Brazilian Nites Productions, Raizes da Tradição and several prominent professionals in the industry.


Among all the great speakers we had, Conor Sheldon (WME), Chuck Steedman (AEG Facilities), Sam Shahidi (Shots Studios), Rob Markus (WME), Randy Salcedo (CAA), Roberto Muller (Cypress LLP), Marcia Loureiro (Consul-General of Brazil in Los Angeles), Flavio Schafirovich (Pontual Money Transfer), Fabio Cesnik (Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados), Fernando Quintino (Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados), Carlos Konrath (Opus Produçoões), Patricia Leão (Brazilian Nites Productions), and Ana Paula Jones (Raizes da Tradição).

A special thanks goes to the Consulate General of Brazil in Los AngelesCesnik Quintino & Salinas, CADÊ BRAZIL, POWER NAP FILMS, BILLBOARD Latin Music for the support and to the BCCC’s team including Patrick Benedek (BCCC’s President), Mayara Aloy-Cunha (Event Coordinator and Business Outreach) and the volunteers Dominique Marie Lebl do Amaral and Amanda Prado, for all the help to produce this event.

The Brazil-California Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization, based in Los Angeles, that fosters business relations and trade between Brazil and California, provides advocacy initiatives and facilitates dialogue between the U.S. and Brazil’s business communities. 


About the Media & Entertainment Committee:
The Committee serves as an impartial forum to promote trade, foster business opportunities and collaboration between Brazil and California related to media and entertainment, including movie and television production, as well as cultural, sportive and gaming activities.



About MPA Latina America:
The Motion Picture Association has been in Brazil since the 1940’s and its members include: Walt Disney; Paramount; Sony Pictures; Twentieth Century Fox; Universal; and Warner Bros. The purpose of the MPA is to stimulate and consolidate partnerships with the players in the Brazilian audiovisual industry, both in the public and private sectors, as well as to promote the exchange of expertise and the overall appreciation of the audiovisual industry. The MPA, in addition to representing the interests of associated studios, monitors the political and economic scenario in relation to the audiovisual industry.
