Participation in Anaheim - California, led by ApexBrasil, projects US$12.8 million in new deals and reinforces Brazil’s leadership in sustainable and natural products

Brazil achieved strong results at the Natural Products Expo West 2026 in Anaheim, generating US$2.6 million in immediate business and projecting US$12.8 million in new deals over the coming months.

Organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the initiative showcased 43 Brazilian companies and highlighted the country’s strength in natural, organic, and sustainable products—from açaí and specialty coffees to cocoa, nuts, and functional ingredients. With over 200 qualified business contacts made during the event, Brazil continues to expand its presence in the global market, connecting innovation, sustainability, and high-quality products to international buyers.

During the event, Felipe Cusnir, President of the Brazil California Chamber of Commerce, had the honor of moderating a high-level gathering organized by the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles and ApexBrasil to welcome the Brazilian business delegation attending Expo West 2026.

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. July 6, 2015 – Steelmaker Gerdau, the largest recycler in California, is partnering with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department to melt more than 3,000 confiscated weapons at its Rancho Cucamonga steel mill on Monday, July 6, at 10 a.m., located at 12459 Arrow Route. It is the 22nd year the facility has hosted the gun melt, which is intended to reduce the amount of weapons in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell and Gerdau's Vice President and general manager, Mark Olson, will provide remarks and the gun melt will follow.

"We appreciate the support and effort Gerdau offers each year in this task," said Sheriff McDonnell. "The conversion of thousands of weapons into rebar has assisted the reconstruction of many highways and, dually, the lives of those who were impacted by them. Many are able to heave a sigh of relief today, knowing an implement which was used to intimidate, harm or kill someone they love is being changed for good."

The Ambassador of the United States to Brazil Liliana Ayalde visits Los Angeles and participates in a presentation on investment and trade relations

Brazil California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) and the

Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) hosted a breakfast presentation and discussion with The Honorable Liliana Ayalde, Ambassador of the United States to Brazil on investment and US Brazil Trade Relations. The event took place on March 6th at 9AM at Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA for Brazil California Chamber of Commerce members and special guests. Ayalde addressed an analysis on the focal areas of trade investments to bilateral businesses for the next years. Brazil is today the world's seventh largest economy and is among the US Top 10 trade partners. As well the US is the second trade partner of Brazil and the main foreign direct investor in this country. “Brazilian businesses are evolving to a broader global presence, which is opening new trade and investment opportunities among US and Brazil. We are honored to host Ambassador Ayalde and hear her insights about the investments and trade relations between these two countries”, says Angela Rosenbach, President of Brazil California Chamber of Commerce. Liliana Ayalde is a Career Minister, and previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, covering Cuba, Central America and the Caribbean. Prior to this Ambassador Ayalde served as the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Join us for the first BCCC International Trade & Logistics Committee webmeeting of 2021 " Cybersecurity on Logistics & International Trade".

As our mission is to promote and improve bilateral trade between Brazil and the richest State in the U.S. Nowadays, we know very well that electronic automation and artificial intelligence have been ahead of trade transactions, logistics management, and transportation navigation systems. Thus, cyber threats and attacks bring big concerns and losses for these industries. That's why we want to start our 2021 monthly webmeetings calendar approaching this subject among our members.

In order to debate the impact and importance of Cybersecurity for our bilateral trade, we invited as Speakers:

Claudio Macedo Pinto , founder of Clamapi Cyber Insurance, has been in the insurance market since 1987, having worked at major Brokers and Insurance Companies in Brazil and abroad. He has a degree in Business Administration from Faculdades Oswaldo Cruz, a Postgraduate Degree in Foreign Trade from FAAP, an MBA in Business Management from FGV Management and ISCTE Business School in Lisbon, as well as several courses in the area of insurance and reinsurance. Since 2010, he holds the AIRM (Latin American Association for Risk and Insurance Management) certification. He is director of APTS (Paulista Association of Insurance Technicians) and member of the Sincor / SP Civil Liability Insurance Committee.

Speaker and Professor of Cyber Insurance at ENS (School of Business and Insurance) at Fundação Vanzolini, at Ventura Cyber Academy, ISQ Portugal among other institutions. He is co-author of the book Data Protection Officer - Theory and Practice according to the LGPD and GDPR, coordinated by Renato Opice Blum, Rony Vainzof and Henrique Fabretti Moraes. He is a member of the Public Committee of ANPPD: National Association of Data Privacy Professionals.

Roi is leading the company’s branding, strategy, PR and messaging. Furthermore, Roi is actively engaged in planning, executing and documenting the company’s experiments and research.

Roi is a sales and marketing expert, has a background in both corporate and startup companies. He brings over 8 years of marketing experience and has held various executive roles, working with major autonomous defense systems companies and a variety of sensor technologies.

Roi holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science, Cum Laude, The Open University.

Sem has co-authored three books on cybersecurity, co-authored several articles & white papers on cybersecurity, including two published in medical journal articles. She has been interviewed about the importance of cybersecurity by both print and television media in Canada. Also, Sem continues to lecture and facilitate an introduction to cybersecurity governance workshops and courses for businesses, associations, and academic institutions in the US, Canada, and Europe. Sem was a panelist, representing xahive at the World Economic Forum in NY, speaking about the importance of cybersecurity. Also, Sem was part of a trade mission to Italy with the Prime Minister of Canada. Finally, Sem was selected as a delegate and panelist to represent Canada at the G20 Youth Summit in Berlin.

Sem holds a BA Honours from Carleton University in Political Science concentration in International Relations and a MA in Legal Studies from Carleton University. Sem is also a proud mother to a 2 year old daughter.

Attracting foreign investments in the audiovisual industry

Attracting foreign investments is one of the top priorities of the Brazilian economic policies, as it has been for years. In globalized capital markets, being able to attract foreign investment is key, especially to countries like Brazil which combines consecutive years of fiscal deficit, high public debt and a low domestic investment rate.

This is the reason why successive administrations in the federal, state and city levels have put great attention to the issue, implementing a wide range of measures to attract foreign investment across different industries and economic sectors. In the industrial sector, Brazilian states have for years competed against each other for such investments by providing fiscal incentives and other concessions to companies interested in investing in their territories.

While the cost-effectiveness of the so-called ‘fiscal war’ between different states and cities has been under greater scrutiny, the attention of Brazilian policy makers has been focused on investments in infrastructure and industrial facilities, largely missing the fact that more and more capital is being allocated to creative industries, in general, and to audiovisual content production in particular. Globally, more than US$ 100 Billion are invested each year on content production alone, of which approximately US$ 25 Billion are invested by streaming services that are the current growth drivers in the media sector. At any rate, these impressive numbers only reflect the fact that the audiovisual industry has become a hotspot for global investments.

Unfortunately, however, Brazil has not yet been able to become a destination to these resources. Although media companies operating in the country are relevant investors in local content production, the fact is that the country is not yet considered an attractive location for international productions. Other countries, such as Colombia, to mention an example in Latin America, have already taken the lead on this matter, offering international production incentives to attract investments and, by doing so, reaping the benefits to their own economies.

The conference will be held over a two-day period, on November 10th and 11th.

The 13th annual Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival will begin in October 2020.

Every year, the film capital of the world opens its doors to talented Brazilians who share their cinema from the country of samba, bossa nova, and Carnival. This showcase of Brazil’s industry leaders has been taking place since the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival’s first debut in 2008. Conceived by film producer Meire Fernandes and journalist Nazareno Paulo, the event grew stronger with support from both Brazilian and American actors who understood that there was great opportunity in the connections that they were introduced to through a film festival. The earliest events held by LABRFF featured the attendance of rising Brazilian talent in the U.S., like actor Rodrigo Santoro and director Fernando Meirelles (City of God), in addition to established Hollywood talent like Dustin Hoffman. The film festival showcased that the cultural exchange of industry professionals was, indeed, relevant. The documentary Millennials Against Anxiety taps both specialists and patients to discuss the outcomes of living with anxiety, and the challenges Generation Y faces amongst an increased use of technology and unrealistic life standards.

Brazilian Producer Andressa Pelachi has been working with production for over 15 years, four of those in Los Angeles, and leads the documentary production.

The most traveled and “free” generation in history is called The Millennials, or Generation Y, yet it has also been labeled perhaps the most anxious and depressed generation of all times (American Psychological Association). Historically, living abroad has never been so common, and one might even say “easy”. As everything in life, we realize that nothing can always be so easy, and that all our choices come with great consequences. One of those consequences, perhaps the biggest and most studied one in our contemporary world, is Anxiety.

“Being a foreign Producer and a Millennial myself, diagnosed with Anxiety disorder and seeing so many of my friends going through the same issues, I was excited to produce a documentary that could not only help me understand why this disorder is affecting my generation, but would also bring answers to those going through the same struggles, and perhaps don’t understand why” says Andressa.

The goal in this documentary is to make people understand what Anxiety really is, and teach viewers to empathize with those who are going through it. By trying to bring some insight in regards to what we can do to prevent anxiety, perhaps we can minimize its effect in our lives.

The documentary is in its pre-production stage, and is intended to be launched in mid 2023.

Amazon Web Services confirmed an investment of R$ 1 billion (USD 231 million) for the construction of a data center in the State of São Paulo. This is Amazon Web Services' first large expansion in Latin America since its arrival in 2011, and the only AWS infrastructure in the region. The investment brings the latest technology and will generate more jobs, opportunities, and technology for São Paulo.

Inspired by the BCCC Media & Entertainment Committee initiatives and discussions, the City of São Paulo Film Commission creates Brazil’s first cash rebate for international productions

Excellent news coming from Ventana Sur in Buenos Aires today, as São Paulo Film and Audiovisual Agency Spcine announce Brazil’s first cash rebates for international productions.

Laís Bodanzky, Director-President of Spcine and one of our keynote speakers at the “Producing Film/TV in Brazil and U.S.” event in Los Angeles earlier this year, unveiled plans to launch in 2020 a cash rebate program for projects with a minimum local spend of $500,000, potentially financing up to $2.5m on each qualifying production that gets approval. Incentives, rebates, and other economic development policies were an important part of the Chamber's event, and Spcine's policy is expected to double the more than 1,000 audiovisual productions currently shot each year in the City of Sao Paulo.

In this interview, she discussed the international notoriety of Brazilian productions filmed in São Paulo, including Netflix's 3% (one of the most-watched non-English shows on the platform), and HBO's "O Negócio" (released simultaneously in 50 countries).

The Brazil California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) forms partnerships with the City Council of João Pessoa (CMJP), the Assembly of the State of Paraiba, and the City of João Pessoa to promote trade and attract more investors to the state of Paraiba, Brazil.

The President of Brazil California Chamber of Commerce, Felipe Cusnir, and the Vice President of Institutional Relations, Fabio Cesnik, host the President of the City Council and council members for a meeting during the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival.

The City Council of João Pessoa had an important step on this official visit to the United States. The President of CMJP and City Councilmembers João Corujinha and Bruno Farias had meetings with the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles and the Brazil California Chamber of Commerce’s (BCCC). The delegation also had the participation of the State Representative Eduardo Carneiro, State Assembly Representative of the state of Paraiba, and the President of the Cultural Foundation of João Pessoa, Maurício Burity.

They all travelled to the United States to be a part of the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival and to follow an agenda with Brazilian and American authorities to promote trade and attract more investment to the state of Paraiba, Brazil. “This is an extremely important partnership, as the Brazil California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) is located in the state with the highest GDP in the USA. Los Angeles is the American leader in the Pacific Rim, which includes the biggest economies in the world, such as: USA, Canada, Japan, China and South Korea. In this way, the celebration of this partnership agreement represents the possibility of large investments, as well as the promotion of a cultural exchange that will benefit both cities and will allow a flow of resources that will be essential in creating new jobs and income opportunities”, explains the City Council member Bruno Farias.

The BCCC President, Felipe Cusnir, and the Vice-President of Institutional Relations, Fábio Cesnik, hosted the meeting with the City Council, the State Assembly and the City of Joao Pessoa to discuss opportunities for collaboration and joint initiatives to strengthen the trade relationship between the states of Paraíba and California, and celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to support All three institutions form a partnership with BCCC. “We are very satisfied with the results achieved until now. There is an open communication with the City’s Administration, there are projects being developed with the Brazilian Consulate, and now, this important partnership with the Chamber of Commerce. The state of Paraiba is very rich in the most diverse services and products, and we are certain that our state will benefit with all that is being set in the agreements we have established here in the United States”, explains the President of the CMJP, João Corujinha.

The BCCC had the Minister of Culture of Brazil, Sergio Sá Leitão , debating with key-players of the industry on how to bring both countries closer to increase partnerships in the sector. Brazil is the second largest cinema market in Latin America and the biggest in Games. The Country also hosts many Music Festivals with over 800.000 attendees like Rock in Rio, VillaMix, and Lollapalooza among others. Speakers included renowned executives from Shots Studios, WME, CAA, Opus Produçoes, Brazilian Nites Productions, Raizes da Tradição and several prominent professionals in the industry.

Minister of Culture comes to Los Angeles to debate on event about the Brazilian Audiovisual Industry hosted by Brazil California Chamber of Commerce

The Brazil California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) hosted its annual event on the Brazilian TV, Film, and Video on Demand Industry, convening top stakeholders of the sector to discuss the imminent legal and regulatory challenges in the digital environment, as well as opportunities and incentives for partnership productions in Brazil. The event took place on October 31st 2017 , at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in Los Angeles.

For the first time in its history, the BCCC had the Brazilian Minister of Culture, Sergio Sá Leitão , debating with international players on how to improve the exchange between both countries. Speakers included renowned executives from Disney and Warner Brothers, aside from the Motion Picture Association Brazil and several prominent professionals in the industry. Among more than 100 participants, there were American and Brazilian producers, writers, agents, actors, and lawyers.

The event was a great opportunity to learn from and connect with influential professionals in the industry and enhance partnerships between Brazilians and Americans in an increasingly globalized business.

According to recent reports, Brazil's audiovisual sector contributed an estimated BRL $23 billion (USD $7,5 billion) to the economy in 2016, representing 0.57 percent of the nation’s total GDP. That is comparable to other important sectors of Brazil’s economy such as tourism and sports. Studies also point out that the audiovisual industry directly employed approximately 170,000 Brazilians in 2014, generating BRL $4.2 billion (USD $1.35 billion) in wages, and indirectly supporting additional 328,000 jobs.

Please join us in an opportunity to hear from Mark Olson, Vice President at Gerdau Long Steel North America, Jeanalee Obergfell, Sustainability Analyst at Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, and Adrian Tylim, Chief Technology Officer at Shift Energy.

Gerdau is the leading company in the production of long steel in the Americas and one of the major suppliers of specialty long steel in the world. The company has 45,000 employees at industrial locations in 14 countries of the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

In North America, Gerdau is a leader in mini-mill steel production and is the second largest recycler in the nation. Through a vertically integrated network of mini-mills, scrap recycling facilities and downstream operations, the company serves customers throughout the U.S. and Canada, offering a diverse and balanced product mix of merchant steel, rebar, structural shapes, fabricated steel and wire rod.

The Rancho Cucamonga mill began production in 1956, and Gerdau acquired the mill in 2010. More than 265 people are employed at the mill, and most employees are members of the United Steelworkers of America. The Rancho Cucamonga mill recycles ferrous scrap metal into rebar used in the construction of buildings, freeways, bridges, parking garages and other concrete structures throughout the Western United States. The mill is capable of recycling more than 550,000 tons of ferrous scrap a year and is likely the largest recycler, by weight, in the state of California.

Gerdau has a total of six locations in California, five of which are reinforcing steel facilities, located in Napa, Fairfield, Santa Fe Springs, San Bernardino, and San Diego. The company fabricates and installs reinforcing steel for a mixture of project types, including dams, bridges, large engineering projects and major commercial concrete projects throughout the West Coast.

Jeanalee Obergfell is a Policy Analyst for Mayor Eric Garcetti's Office of Sustainability. She played a key role developing the City of Los Angeles' first Sustainable City pLAn. She leads and supports the implementation of city initiatives around air quality, livable neighborhoods, and environmental justice. Notably, she was the Mayor's Office lead on the Clean Up Green Up policy combats adverse health effects related to concentrations of industrial uses and freight traffic in three L.A. pilot communities — Boyle Heights, Pacoima/Sun Valley and Wilmington. She is a proud University of California Los Angeles graduate having earned both her BA in Political Science and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from there. She is an alumna of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs.

At this event, Olson will present Gerdau’s sustainability projects and discuss with Jeanalee Obergfell, and Adrian Tylim the development and implementation of these projects.

On November 3rd the Brazil California Chamber of Commerce and the Motion Picture Association of America gathered key players from the Media & entertainment industry to discuss the future of the Audiovisual Industry in Brazil and in the U.S. The Brazilian audiovisual industry offers multiple opportunities in broadcast, V.O.D. and internet sectors for investors, entrepreneurs, distributors and producers in all platforms. More than 90 attendees were able to learn more about how government, companies and independent producers are exploring the process of developing V.O.D. content and financing productions in Brazil.

Make a list

Lists are great ways to stay on track. Write down some big things you want to accomplish and some smaller things, too.

Check the list regularly

Don’t forget to check in and see how you’re doing. Just because you don’t achieve the big goals right away doesn’t mean you’re not making progress.

Reward yourself

When you succeed in achieving a goal, be it a big one or a small one, make sure to pat yourself on the back.

Think positively

Write about something you know. If you don’t know much about a specific topic that will interest your readers, invite an expert to write about it.

Speak to your audience

You know your audience better than anyone else, so keep them in mind as you write your blog posts. Write about things they care about. If you have a company Facebook page, look here to find topics to write about

Take a few moments to plan your post

Once you have a great idea for a post, write the first draft. Some people like to start with the title and then work on the paragraphs. Other people like to start with subtitles and go from there. Choose the method that works for you.

Don’t forget to add images

Be sure to include a few high-quality images in your blog. Images break up the text and make it more readable. They can also convey emotions or ideas that are hard to put into words.

Edit carefully before posting

Once you’re happy with the text, put it aside for a day or two, and then re-read it. You’ll probably find a few things you want to add, and a couple more that you want to remove. Have a friend or colleague look it over to make sure there are no mistakes. When your post is error-free, set it up in your blog and publish.
