Brazil's Trade Commissioner Leonardo Valverde will walk you through the Brazilian Government Trade Promotion system and present the work performed by the Trade Promotion Office of the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles in recent years as well as the perspective for the Brazil-US bilateral relation in the coming year of 2015.

Mr. Leonardo Valverde Corrêa da Costa, a career diplomat, was born in Santos, São Paulo. He has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance. Before joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Costa worked for 8 years in international banking for institutions such as Citibank, Credit Commercial de France and HSBC. In 2007, Mr. Costa joined Itamaraty and received his degree from Rio Branco Institute, the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy.  Afterwards, he worked at the Economic Department of Itamaraty, and was responsible for trade negotiations both at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Mercosul. From 2010 to 2011 he served at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to Mercosul, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and in 2012, was appointed Deputy Consul of Brazil in Los Angeles, responsible for heading the Trade Promotion Office.
